Penn Program for Mindfulness Winter 2014 Course Offerings
The Penn Program for Mindfulness is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Management program that teaches individuals how to use meditation as the primary tool for long-term stress management. Mindfulness meditation is taught in a completely practical way as a powerful tool to manage the physical, psychological, and behavioral symptoms of stress.   



Advanced Programs: mindfulness experience required 


Mindful Parenting – Open to all, no experience necessary

Space limited for all programs, waiting lists will be kept. Registration deadlines apply

Million Dollar Bike Ride Kick-off Celebration – February 28

Join The Penn Center for Orphan Disease Research and Therapy (CODRT) for Happy Hour to celebrate Rare Disease Day and a kick-off celebration for the Million Dollar Bike Ride!

Digital Art Contest: Show-off Your Creative Techno Side!

The Mahoney Institute for Neurosciences (MINS) is holding a Digital Art Contest. Organizers hope for the contest to be fun, inviting, and inclusive, and everyone in the greater Penn and Penn Medicine community is invited and encouraged to submit an entry.

Contestants are asked to create a digital image with a neuroscience theme for potential display in and around the Neuroscience Offices of the Clinical Research Building located on the Perelman School of Medicine campus. Send submissions to Jacqueline Fowlkes at MinsArtContest@gmail.com. Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 7.

Prizes will be awarded!

  • Three $1000 1st Place Winners
  • Four $500 2nd Place Winners

Please join us for PAH’s annual nursing research conference in Thursday, March 27 from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, in the hospital’s Zubrow Auditorium. Million-Dollar-Bike-Ride

SAVE THE DATE – Saturday, May 3, 9 a.m. – Mark your calendars for the first annual Million Dollar Bike Ride to raise money for rare disease research, organized by the Penn Center for Orphan Disease Research and Therapy and Rare Disease Cycling. The event is the only cycling fundraiser to start and end in the city of Philadelphia, with the start/finish line at Highline Park (31st and Chestnut) on Penn’s campus. There are 3 route options – 11, 35 and 73 miles.

Refreshments and entertainment at the start/finish line and fun for the entire family. All participants will receive free merchandise including a Million Dollar Bike Ride jersey. Individual cyclists can register and raise money for their specific orphan/rare disease foundation. Examples of teams already formed include: Bike to End Duchenne, Pitt Hopkins Pedalers, Spin Factor for Hemophilia, Team FARA, Team ALD, Team Cure ML4, LAM Foundation, Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH).

Proceeds will help further research by the Penn Center for Orphan Disease Research and Therapy. Registration, volunteer sign-up and additional race information:

Volunteers needed for Penn Wissahickon Hospice's Annual Camp Erin-Philadelphia, May 16-18

We are still accepting applications for volunteers! Camp Erin-Philadelphia is a weekend overnight camp for children ages 6-17, who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. It is a traditional, high-energy camp combined with grief education and emotional support. Volunteers perform a wide range of services from facilitating activities such as arts and crafts, music, games and sports to organizing the memorial ceremony and registering campers.
