The publication’s annual ranking of hospitals in America lists HUP as one of only 18 hospitals in the nation to be recognized as an “Honor Roll” hospital for its exceptional performance. This year, HUP is ranked 11th on the list of top hospitals, which is culled from nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide.
In the publication’s rating of regional hospitals, all three hospitals were among the top 10 in Philadelphia – HUP topped the list at #1, while Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and Pennsylvania Hospital ranked 4th and 6th, respectively. In the state of Pennsylvania, HUP was ranked second, with Penn Presbyterian and Pennsylvania Hospital ranked 8th and 9th, respectively.
Penn Presbyterian was also among 147 facilities (including HUP and Pennsylvania Hospital) to be ranked in even one of the 16 specialties. Presby earned national recognition for 2 specialties (Geriatrics and Ear, Nose & Throat), and was deemed High-Performing in 8 specialties (Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology).
