April 21
18th Annual Dash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness
The 18th Annual Dash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness is once again upon us. This year’s event will be held Sunday April 21, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  There’s a new team name this year: Team PENN MEDICINE. The goal is to recruit runners and walkers from all Penn Medicine entities, in addition to all the wonderful patients that participate every year and to bring awareness to the critical need for more organ and tissue donors. All proceeds benefit public education programs designed to increase the number of people who register as organ and tissue donors.

After the 2012 Donor Dash Penn had 167 registered team members and raised $8,804. They We are hoping to raise at least $10,000 this year and recruit at least 180 team members. Last year’s team ranked fourth out of 360 teams for enrollment. This year we are striving to be number one!

Our ultimate mission this year is to have people from all Penn Medicine entities join our team, hencywhy the team name had been changed to Team PENN MEDICINE this year.

Click here to go directly to the Team PENN MEDICINE website where to register to walk or run with the team.  All are welcome to join this inspiring event.

The Dash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness consists of a 5K (3.1 miles) and a 10K (6.2 miles) run and 3K (1.8 miles) walk designed to celebrate the success of transplantation and highlight the critical need for more registered organ and tissue donors. Locally, 6,468 men, women and children are currently waiting for the gift of a life-saving organ transplant. Nationally, more than 112,000 people are waiting.

If you have any questions, please contact Team Captain Rebecca L. Farrell, BSN, RN, CCTN, Liver Transplant Coordinator, Penn Transplant Institute at 215.662.4181s or rebecca.farrell@uphs.upenn.edu.
