At the Semiannual Medical Staff meeting in December, the David M. Kozart, MD, Medical Staff Award was presented. The Kozart Award is given annually to someone who has demonstrated excellence in patient care as well as leadership and administrative qualities within the medical staffff and the organization.

Dr. Kozart is remembered as a prominent ophthalmologist, beloved mentor, teacher, administrator and medical staff leader revered by colleagues and peers. His outstanding contributions spanned over four decades at PPMC.

Harvey Waxman, MD, FACC, chief of Cardiology at PPMC, received this year’s prestigious award. Dr. Waxman first joined Penn Medicine in 1980 as the Director of Holter Monitoring at HUP. In 1997, Dr. Waxman was appointed Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at PPMC. Over the past decade, Dr.Waxman has repeatedly been listed as a top physician by Philadelphia Magazine, South Jersey Magazine, Suburban Life Magazine and Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.
