Tax Prep Assistance

UPHS and the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania have partnered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and LIFT Philadelphia to pilot the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program - an IRS-sponsored program to help eligible individuals have their tax returns prepared by IRS tax law certified volunteers at no cost. This program will serve as the pilot effort in providing a comprehensive financial services package.

One of the goals of the initiative is to increase awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a tax reimbursement program for working families. Eligible participants will provide their information to volunteers at an initial intake appointment at UPHS and will be called back when the process is complete to pick up their completed return and information about additional resources. For more information about the program, or to see if you qualify for the EITC, please pick up a packet of information in the HR offices at PPMC or PCRC.
