The Johnson House Historic Site is offering a new program to area community schools, organizations, and individuals called The Freedom Quilt Project. Sponsored by Nancy Shell of the Johnson House, the project aims to chronicle what African Americans have to say about their freedom and what it means to them now.

Participants are asked to write their thoughts on a five inch square of muslin fabric. These “comment squares” are to be made into a quilt. The Johnson House is trying to collect as many comments as possible before the “Juneteenth Celebration” on June 19, and they are asking PAH staff and employees to contribute.
This is the last African American History Month event being held at the hospital by the PAH Black History Month Committee. Special thanks to the Committee for all their hard work and the wonderful History events this month.
