Friend and co-worker, Nadine Balsley, passed away suddenly on December 23, 2011. According to all who knew her, Nadine was an integral part of the peri-operative family, who dedicated 13 years of her life to PAH.
Shown here is Patricia McNerney, now retired who worked for almost two decades at PAH, and her daughter, Nadine Balsley who - until her untimely passing last December - also worked at PAH for the last 13 years.
In addition to being a diligent worker who would help anyone, Nadine was always such a pleasure to be around. She was a warm, lively, friendly person that people looked forward to seeing each day. She greeted everyone she came into contact with a smile and a pleasant conversation. Nadine was always sure to ask you – how was your weekend? Or, say Happy Friday! She will truly be missed by her co-workers and friends, especially by those who worked with her on a daily basis in the 3rd floor operating rooms.
Darnell Thomas, the medical secretary on 3 Cathcart South, the Cardiac Vascular/Cardiac Thoracic (CVCT) Operating Room, considered Nadine a friend – not just a co-worker – and misses their daily morning runs to get coffee. “She was such a wonderful person; she had no ill feelings toward anyone,” said Darnell. “Nadine would do whatever was asked of her without batting an eye.” Darnell also recalled how in December Nadine treated the whole 3rd floor Cathcart staff to hoagies to celebrate the holiday season. “
The CVCT staff would like to also take this opportunity to thank the Peri-Operative Management Team for generously accommodating the 3rd floor staff so they we all able to attend Nadine’s services. She will forever be in our hearts.
