The staff of 4 and 5 Preston would like to congratulate Harriet Jones on her retirement after 37 years of service at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Harriet was employed at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital from 1974 through 1996, in various capacities such as Department of Nursing secretary, payroll clerk and secretary for the Social Service Department.
In 1994 she became a patient care technician on the evening shift while working on the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital's Geriatric Psychiatric Unit. This enabled her to attend Thomas Jefferson College of Allied Health to pursue her BSN Degree.
Once the Institute closed in 1996, Harriet transferred to PAH to the role of a patient care technician on 4/5 Preston. Harriet graduated from Jefferson college of nursing in 1998 with her bachelor's degree in nursing and started working in the role of a staff nurse of 4/5 Preston.
Harriet was the second RN in PAH history to advance to CNIII and CNIV. She then advanced to the role of Charge Nurse in early 2000. During her tenure at PAH she also participated in various committees such as: CARP Committee, Unit Based Leadership Committee, Unit Based Patient Satisfaction Committee, Circumcision Team Committee, and as a Renovation Project Member. Harriet also chaired the Shared Governance Committee for seven years.
Congratulations Harriet and best wishes as you embark on this exciting new chapter of your life.
