2012 marks the 44th year that Penn Presbyterian has commemorated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This month, activities to honor Dr. King included:
• A musical presentation honored the themes of dignity and respect in Dr. King’s work and in our care of patients. Performers traveled throughout the hospital, stopping at eighteen locations to bring the celebration to those who were unable to leave their units.
• A banner displayed near the café, by the Cultural Diversity Committee,
recognizing service to the community by our staff.
• Posters and displays created by staff members in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Also in honor of Dr. King’s commitment to community service, the Cultural Diversity Committee’s toiletry drive to benefit PPMC’s Behavioral Health patients who are in need upon their discharge from the hospital will continue through the end of the month. Nursing Shared Governance and the Nursing Professional Development Council have partnered with the local John Bartram High School to participate in this drive, bringing community involvement to the project. Please bring items for donation to one of our two drop off locations on the 4th Floor, Wright Saunders.
