Despite inclement weather conditions, family, friends and loved ones came together in Myrin Circle on November 29 to honor and remember those who have passed. Penn Wissahickon Hospice holds the Light Up a Life celebration each year in honor of the people who have brightened and enriched the lives of others. The thousands of lights on the trees are each dedicated in honor or memory of a patient, friend or loved one.
“These lights that we’ve dedicated in memory of our loved ones are not just symbolic of our thoughts and prayers – they are also reminders to everyone who sees them that there are still many patients in need of care and support,” said
Kevin Fosnocht, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Donations to Light Up a Life benefit the Penn Wissahickon Hospice Needy Patient Fund, which provides care, comfort and hospice support for the uninsured and underinsured. “The lights we dedicate to those we’ve lost will help care for the lives of others in need this holiday season,” said Dr. Fosnocht.
A reception following the ceremony featured Christmas carols sung by thePhiladelphia Singers.
