Leadership Changes at PAH

Michael Buckley Kate Kinslow announced this week that she will be leaving Pennsylvania Hospital as of November 1 to become President and CEO of Aria Health System. Dr. Michael Buckley, Chair of Internal Medicine and Chief Medical Officer has been appointed the next Executive Director of Pennsylvania Hospital. He will begin to transition to this new role over the next several weeks.

Kate’s leadership, guidance and enthusiasm for Pennsylvania Hospital will absolutely be missed. She has been a tremendous supporter for the Hospital and the physicians, nurses, clinicians and staff she has worked alongside these past 18 years. Kate has been a leader at all levels of the organization working to improve processes with the goal of improving patient care and safety.  This commitment served her well as she rose from nurse anesthetist to CNO, COO and then taking over as the first female Executive Director in 2006. We thank Kate for her years of dedicated service and look forward to celebrating her many accomplishments between now and November 1.

We also extend a warm congratulations to Dr. Buckley, who has been a leader at PAH for over 30 years as an Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease physician, Chair of the I.D. Section, and since 2000 has served as both CMO and Chair of the Dept. of Medicine, leading quality and patient safety initiative for PAH. A formal search to fill these roles will begin soon.

Dr. Buckley received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Yale University, did his Internal Medicine residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and his Infectious Disease fellowship at Penn. He is a Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America, a member of their Clinical Affairs Committee, and recently completed his tenure as the Chairman of that committee’s Quality Improvement Task Force. His long-standing dedication to Pennsylvania Hospital makes him the right person to continue its success and lead Pennsylvania Hospital into the future.

We wish Kate the best of luck in this next phase of her career and congratulate Dr. Buckley on becoming Pennsylvania Hospital’s next Executive Director.
