Each year in April, occupational
therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students in practice,
education, research, and science host a month-long celebration showcasing the
importance of Occupational Therapy.
Occupational Therapy enables people of all ages live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, prevent, or live better with injury, illness, or disability.
Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants focus on doing whatever occupations or activities are meaningful to the individual. It is Occupational Therapy’s purpose to move beyond problems and create solutions that allow people to participate in all aspects of daily living. These solutions include helping individuals use adaptive equipment or adapt ways to complete a task, alter their own behaviors or handle changes to their surroundings.
Every day, you can find our seven OTs on the acute care floors, the Presby SNF therapy gym, or the PCRC therapy gym helping our patients and residents “live life to its fullest”. Not only are they busy treating patients, but this industrious group is working on many other projects to improve the services our patients receive. Current projects include revised documentation, consistent use of standardized assessments as well as two new initiatives on the Presby SNF unit: therapeutic groups and a formalized Activities of Daily Living (ADL) program. We are fortunate and proud to be colleagues of such a dedicated and bright group of OT professionals!
Please come learn more about your Presby OTs and their inspiring profession on Tuesday, April 27, outside of the cafeteria.
