Recalling HUP’s School of Nursing

Penn's School of Nursing is among the best in the country -- but did you know that, for nearly a century, there was another excellent nursing school on our campus?

The School of Nursing of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania opened its doors in 1886 and, over the next 90-plus years, educated thousands of nurses, many of whom continued their careers at HUP. For the next full issue of HUPdate, we look into the history of the HUP School of Nursing. Plus, we sat down with four of the school’s graduates, to get their personal recollections on what it was like … and the impact it had on their lives. Below are some selections from that story.
