Penn Medicine’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders team was well represented last week at the annual International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Toronto. The Penn team presented data from the Parkinson’s Associated Risk Study (PARS), and found that people with diminished ability to smell were more likely to have lower levels of dopamine transporter. Beyond the research, Matthew Stern, MD, Professor of Neurology and director of the PDMD Center, is now the president-elect of the Movement Disorder Society and will take over as president in the next term.
